We are currently finishing up the final touches on our newest installment to the Trojan Storage portfolio- Trojan Storage of Burbank. This new Burbank ground-up development is unique to the storage world in many ways. This property is in a more urban- media-centric area compared to many of our properties and has the extremely advanced security and technological features.
Let’s start with security. Secure to its core, the walls of the property are built with concrete and steel foundations and steel roll up doors. This is important for storage facilities due to the fact that many older generation facilities are made of wood and have a weak foundation, providing a much easier way for outsiders to drill into the walls and steal belongings. Steel doors ensure more protection against natural disaster, extreme weather, and flooding, and the metal lasts longer than wood typically due to corrosion, weather and moisture damage. The facility will have high tech password protected storage doors and extra layers of protection. The customer will have to enter a unique customer code to enter the outer facility gate as well as the building, then have a unique key to enter their unit. Surveillance cameras will be placed all through out the inside and outside of the property, recording all activity with a live feed streaming to our manager in the rental office. The manager of the property also will be living onsite to ensure 24 hour protection of the property in case of an emergency or urgent situation.
Next, is convenience! The location has wide drive aisles in order to access the property and unload belongings with ease. This is ideal for multiple moving trucks and large vehicles to unload simultaneously. There are a handful of our larger units that you can drive right up to load and unload your belongings. We will also have more affordable, locker-type units that customers looking for a smaller space can rent- these are great for students, camping equipment, or seasonal items such as holiday decorations, winter clothes, skis, surfboards, etc. The site will have all roll up doors and absolutely no swing doors. Roll up doors grant customers much more access to their unit than swing doors do and make it easier to move big objects like couches and mattresses in and out. Indoor storage facilities can make it tough to clearly see your belongings if you’re accessing them at night. We combat this issue with great LED lighting in all of the wide hallways and even in some of the bigger units.
In order to beat the Burbank heat, our facility is also temperature controlled. This means that the facility always maintains a certain temperature so that your belongings will not overheat or ever be too cool. Temperature control is important for high quality items like storing art pieces, furniture, computers, photos, antiques, or if you are planning to store for a long period of time. To ensure this temperature control, our units are tightly enclosed, warding off dust, pests, humidity, mold and many other threats.
One aspect of this Burbank location that we’re particularly excited about is a new storage kiosk outside of the rental office. This kiosk will originally be for customers to come pay their bills after hours through a reliable source. Eventually, the plan would be to grant it the ability for people to rent units from the kiosk directly if the office is closed or very busy. This is a great cutting edge technology that several big operators have found success with instead of feeling the need to extend their hours to accommodate more customers.
Another advantage of this facility is that one of our longest standing employees will be taking over the site. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to what size unit to rent, how the property is run, and what is in the best interest of the customers. It’s a very common issue that people over or under estimate the size of storage they will need for their belongings. Most of the time when an individual is storing, they are going through some type of stressful life change or move and having someone at the property who is eager to help and give the best advice is crucial in this setting. Our job is to make the transition for the customers as easy as possible so that they can get back to their life and feel safe leaving their belongings with us. We want our customers to feel safe on our property and to know that they are in good hands and most of that starts with having great staff on hand.
We had our grand opening on October 31st and we anticipate filling up our facility very quickly so reserve soon!
